AFT First-Timers’ Summer Season Guide

All AFT summer shows are appropriate for all ages. Summer shows run about 90 minutes with no intermission. Our concession stand at the park is filled with AFT apparel, recordings, and other great items. We also sell water, soda, popcorn and sweet treats.

1. Arrive early…

The AFT Amphitheatre is our little piece of heaven in Peninsula State Park. Half the tickets to any performance are sold at the park the night of the show. The park box office opens one hour before curtain time. Please keep in mind that, should you arrive after performance time, you will be seated at an appropriate interval, at the House Manager’s discretion.

2. As long as you’re here…

Peninsula State Park is one of the most beautiful parks in the country. Consider making AFT the warm and fuzzy finale of a perfect day spent hiking, biking, beaching...the list is long and there’s something for everyone. At the very least, take time to…

3. Eat, drink, and be merry…

There are plenty of picnic tables and grills close by at Nicolet Beach, and even several tables right outside the amphitheater. Not only can you picnic before the performance, you can even enjoy your munchies while the performance is happening, inside the amphitheater. You can bring drinks and food with you or purchase them at the Concession Booth. However, alcoholic beverages are not allowed in or around the amphitheater, and we ask that you please be mindful of noise, unwrapping all items before the performance begins.

4. The Wisconsin State "Bird"…

We’ve heard tell that folks have spotted a mosquito or two from time to time, particularly just around sunset. Bug spray is available across from the Concessions area. Remember – a little goes a LONG way. We do make a regular effort to reduce the ‘sqeeter population on our grounds.

5. Dress code…

C’mon! There IS no dress code, although there are appropriate ways to adorn yourself. Just prepare your body for AFT as you would for any evening outdoor event in Door County. A night in the woods, even on the warmest day, can turn a tad chilly after dark. A few layers are the best strategy - and you might bring a blanket. Snuggling up is recommended!

6. Seating…

You’ll be sitting on over-sized wooden benches with backs. Cushions are available for rental, or feel free to bring your own padding of choice. The amphitheater seating is naturally raked upwards so, as the saying goes, “there are no bad seats.” There are 120 Reserved Seating Tickets available for each performance for an additional $7.00 per ticket. This option assures you that a specific seat with a seat cushion will be waiting for you up until showtime. We do ask that you arrive no later than 10 minutes prior to the performance.

7. Getting here…

It is NOT necessary to have a State Park sticker to enter the park to see an AFT performance as long as you park in the AFT parking lot and enter less than one hour prior to performance. If you plan to spend extra time in the park prior to show time, Day Park passes run $7 for WI state residents ($3 for WI state residents 65 years and older), and $10 for non-residents.
